Our Science projects on electricity (Year 6)
This term we have learned about electricity and magnetism in Bilingual Science class.
As a final project, children had to apply their knowledge by creating a model where electricity or magnetism would be used. Objects, materials and size were set by their own creativity. They could ask for their parents' help if they needed to.
The products were astonishing! Here you are some pictures to show how hard they worked. Well done, kids!

Year 6A Arts Comic Contest 2016
In Years 6A and 6B kids have created a comic individually. As part of the activity, we turned it into a drawing contest and the winner would get a prize.
We have started voting for the best comic in Year 6A during Easter holidays. Year 6B comics will be voted next week.
In Year 6A there are six comics to enter the contest but only one will get the win. A voting link has been shared over the internet: Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Good luck to the authors!

Celebramos el Día del Árbol en nuestro parque de las Siete Sillas de Mérida
El pasado jueves 17 de marzo los niños y niñas de 5ºA y 5B del CEIP Maximiliano Macías celebramos el Día Mundial del Árbol realizando dos talleres con los monitores expertos sobre medioambiente de Adenex.
Nos desplazamos a pie desde nuestro cole. Allí nos recibieron Andrea, Mamen, Antonio y Gerardo. También estaban las cámaras de Canal Extremadura para emitirnos en el telediario "Extremadura 1".
La primera actividad consistió en un tour con Antonio y Gerardo alrededor del parque, explicándonos los nombres de árboles y arbustos, así como algunas curiosidades de éstos: el cinamomo, la catalpa, el cedro, el plátano, el ciprés de Arizona, el durillo, el laurel, el aliso, el junco churrero, el chopo negro, el pino piñonero, el romero, el cerezo japonés... Incluso hemos visto los cormoranes que estaban posados en una isleta del río Guadiana.
En el segundo taller, Andrea y Mamen nos han hablado sobre los colores del parque. Nos hemos dividido en grupos y cada grupo ha tenido que buscar y recoger en una caja distintos objetos del color asignado.
Finalmente hemos creado un mural de cada color para exhibirlo en el quiosco del parque a la vista de todos los visitantes. ¡Nos hemos divertido y hemos aprendido mucho!¡Además los monitores nos felicitaron por lo bien que nos habíamos portado!

Our Father's Day present in Year 6
Here you are a picture presentation of our Father's Day present. We used a simple photo transfer technique in Arts class.

- Four black and white photos printed in normal quality paper.
- A piece of string to be stapled at the back of our board and used as hanger.
- Glue
- Scissors (optional, we should use our fingers!)
- Varnish
- A brush

Valentina nos endulza el recreo
Nuestra compañera y alumna Valentina ha tenido el gusto de demostrar sus artes culinarias preparándonos un delicioso bizcocho de chocolate con lacasitos. Valentina está hecha toda una chef, pues lo ha preparado ella sola con la supervisión de su madre, María José.
El día anterior nos preguntó a todos por mensajería si había algún compañero que no pudiera comer chocolate por algún motivo de alergia.
A la hora de partir la tarta, el "profe" Abel aprovechó para repasar las fracciones con la clase: ¡No sabíamos que las fracciones podían estar tan ricas!

Los niños y los profes le dimos las gracias a Valentina por su "dulce" detalle tras chuparnos los dedos y nos fuimos al recreo la mar de contentos. ¡Gracias Valentina!

Pointillism in Art class (Year 6)
This month we are learning about a new painting technique. It is called Pointillism. It consists of drawing or painting by using small dots or points.
Year 6 kids are creating awesome pictures by using the pointillism technique. Teacher Francisco asked them to draw a picture out of their imagination, trying not to copy from the internet or a book. As you can see below, they can be very creative and may become great artists in the future.
